1Peter 1:14-16 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, (15) but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, (16) since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."I can remember being a child and standing out in the front yard playing in mud puddles for hours. I would sling sticks in them, float green army men in them, and splash around until my momma would call me inside. Playing in mud puddles was fine then. I had no other responsibility, no other higher thing to devote attention to. However, imagine with me for a moment where I would be if I had stayed in the mud puddle. Picture me, a grown man sploshing and splashing in my driveway--neglecting the higher things, shirking real responsibility for child's play.
As odd as that sounds, don't we find ourselves being tempted to live this way in our walk with Christ? God has called us out of sin, out of immaturity and into His glorious light. Why then do we go back to play in the mud puddles of worldliness? When God redeemed us, He made it possible for us to leave the mud puddle and be immersed in the deep ocean of His glory. May we turn from sin and immaturity and find real and supreme joy in God.
Have an amazing week as you seek to live a lifestyle of worship,
Jimmy
